Steps to set up a darts scoreboard

Pick a starting score501 for PDC and most clubs, 301 for a quicker game (typically double-in / double-out), or 701 for long-format trial legs.
Choose the formatBest of N legs in a single set is the amateur standard. Best of M sets, each first to (N+1)/2 legs, is the TV format used at the PDC World Championship.
Decide on double-outThe classic rule: the leg must end on a double or the bullseye. Turn it off for "straight out" rules at family games or new players.

How visits and busts work

Each player throws a "visit" of three darts and the visit total is subtracted from their remaining score. Type the number you see on the dart board into the visit box and tap Record. If the visit would take the score below 0, or with double-out leave the score on 1, that's a bust - the visit counts 0 and the throw passes to the other player. The 3-dart average updates after every visit, so the operator and the live viewers always see the running form.

Quick chips180 is the maximum visit (three triple-20s). The chip row gives one-tap entry for 26, 41, 60, 100, 140 and 180 - the visits operators reach for most often.

Darts scoring system

Countdown - Each player starts on the same number (301, 501 or 701) and races to zero. The board subtracts each visit total from the remaining and shows the running score in the SCORE column.
Double-out - The final dart of the leg must land in a double (the thin outer ring, doubles 1 through 20) or the bullseye (counted as double 25). If a visit reduces the score to exactly 0 without a double, or leaves the score on 1, the visit is a bust and the score reverts.
Leg / Set - A leg is won by reaching 0 first. A set is the first player to a majority of legs (e.g. first to 3 in a best-of-5 set). A match is won by reaching a majority of sets. With best-of-sets = 1, sets are skipped and the match is a straight race to a majority of legs.
3-dart average - Total scored รท darts thrown ร— 3. The PDC headline stat. Pub players average around 50โ€“70, county players 70โ€“90, PDC pros 95โ€“110. Busts cost darts but score 0, so the average reflects real shooting accuracy across the whole match.

Run the board from the admin preview

The admin page shows a live preview of the scoreboard with click controls baked in:

Throwing arrow - The โžœ next to the player at the oche shows who throws next. Click the arrow to pass the throw manually if you need to correct an order.
Player name - Click the other player's name to make them the thrower instead of the current one. Useful when a leg starts with the wrong player.
Score cells - The SCORE, LEGS and SETS cells are editable inputs. Click any number to type a correction directly into the cell.

The Settings link returns to this page pre-populated with the match's current options. The Reset button starts the match over from the configured starting score. End freezes the score with a winner banner. Delete permanently removes the match - the live URL stops working immediately.

FAQ

Does the board check that the final dart was a double?

The board accepts the visit total you enter. If your house rules require double-out, the operator just records the visit total - the bust gate fires whenever a visit would land on 1 or go below 0. The board does not see individual darts.

Can I run a sets-and-legs World Championship style match?

Yes. Pick best-of-sets > 1 and a best-of-legs in each set. For the PDC World final tradition, set best-of-sets to 7 and best-of-legs to 5 - first to win 5 legs takes the set, first to 4 sets takes the match.

Why does my 3-dart average drop after a bust?

Bust visits still cost the darts you threw but the score they put on the board is 0. The average is total score รท darts ร— 3, so the busted darts pull the average down. That matches the PDC reporting convention.

Can I switch between 501 and 301 in the middle of a match?

Open the Settings link from the admin page and pick a different starting score. The change applies on save; the leg counter and stats remain.
